Mile High Magazine 08/21/2022 John Wayne Cancer Foundation

Guest: Greg Graber John Wayne was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1967 and beat it.  Fifteen years later he lost his battle with stomach cancer. When he passed away he asked his family to use his name to help the fight against cancer.  The John Wayne Cancer Foundation was started in 1985.  The John Wayne Cancer Foundation is based in California but the impact is felt throughout the world.  They have the programs are in University of California, Irvine Health and Texas Tech University Health Science Center.  They have an alumni of 160 and are in 27 states.  The John Wayne Cancer Foundation’s Block the Blaze program educates youth on awareness, prevention and detection of skin cancer.  Coming up is the John Wayne Grit Series on August 27th.  It is a trail run in Ridgeway.  That is where the movie True Grit was filmed.    https://johnwayne.org/
