Mile High Magazine 10/25/2020 Comeback Yoga

Guest: Kelly Wulf Executive Director Comeback Yoga is a Denver based nonprofit providing free, trauma-informed yoga to veterans, active duty military and their support networks.  They also provide scholarships to veteran who want to become yoga instructors.  They provide classes to instructors with additional training in PTSD, military sexual trauma and traumatic brain injury so they can be a more confident in teaching their classes.  Trauma informed yoga is a slower place and they work more on breathing.  They focus on staying in the present verses them going back in time and things that can trigger them.  Before COVID they had their classes in military centric locations such as the VA hospital, military bases and VFW post.  Now they are online so they can practice in their homes.  The classes are free so they rely heavily on grants and this year, it isn’t easy to secure funding.  On October 28th they are having a virtual fundraiser.  A free livestream Yoga session will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by a discussion beginning at 8 a.m. on how yoga is helpful for those who may be experiencing symptoms of PTS and how the brain body connection is essential for overcoming trauma of all kinds.  If someone cannot attend they can donate online. https://www.comebackyoga.org/ 720-259-4931
