Mile High Magazine 11/01/2020 American Red Cross

Guest: Andrea Carlson Regional Communications Officer   Every penny that is raised in Colorado to the Red Cross to help with the wildfires is going to be staying in Colorado and helping people impacted by the current wildfires.  Currently the Red Cross is still sheltering 2600 people in over 1600 hotel rooms in 34 hotels and in 2 KOA sites.  Due to COVID they stopped using their shelters and put people into hotels.  They are offering their normal services such as meals and clothes, as well as consoling sessions if needed.  90% of the workforce with the Red Cross are all volunteers.  Due to COVID they are doing screenings constantly on their volunteers to make sure everyone is saying safe.  They have also closed down their offices in Colorado and have been working from home.  Thanks to technology they are able to stay in contact and do check ins with people who they are helping.       https://www.redcross.org/local/colorado.html
