Broncos injury update: Sutton practices again; Compton to IR
Dec 22, 2022, 3:14 PM
Wide receiver Courtland Sutton practiced for a second consecutive day, and once again went through the full array of individual drills as the Broncos continued their preparations for the Los Angeles Rams.
But the news was not as good for RB Latavius Murray, who did not practice due to foot soreness. He saw limited work Wednesday. Per a pool report, Murray was in uniform without a helmet. He did not take part in the individual period of practice.

CAUTION AS BRONCOS GO INDOORS
Hackett opted to hold out edge rusher Randy Gregory, slot CB K’Waun Williams and LG Dalton Risner from Thursday’s work.
Gregory did not practice Wednesday on grass due to “maintenance” as he completes his recovery from an October knee scope, Hackett said.
“We’re hoping that he’s going to be able to play,” Hackett said.
Williams has a knee issue and Risner has a foot problem. Hackett specifically said he held out both due to Thursday’s practice taking place inside the Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse on artificial turf.
Risner dealt with multiple injuries in recent weeks, but only missed the Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
“We’re being cautious right now,” Hackett said. “We want to take it day-to-day. We’re hoping that he’s gonna be good to go and ready to rock, but we just want to be smart with him especially because we’re going on the turf.”
WR Kendall Hinton also missed practice due to a hamstring injury. Sutton has not practiced since being injured against Kansas City on Dec. 11.

COMPTON’S SEASON OFFICIALLY ENDS
After his back problem flared up in the third quarter against the Cardinals, the Broncos elected to place offensive lineman Tom Compton on injured reserve Thursday.
Compton played 30 snaps last Sunday in relief of guard Quinn Meinerz, who was poked in the eye on Denver’s first series. He opened the season on the PUP list because of offseason back surgery and didn’t get into a game until last week.
Luke Wattenberg replaced Compton in the second half Sunday. Meinerz has been a full participant in both practices so far this week.
