WHEN & WHERE:

On Saturday, November 20, 2021, H&H33 will be hosting a Girls Basketball friendly at Lakewood High School between four high schools that were an integral part of Mackenzie’ Forrest’s life.  Whether it be the high school she played at, the friends she played with in her younger years, or her neighbors that played at the other schools, these are the people that knew her HUSTLE and her HEART.

WHAT:

1st Annual KINDNESS MATTERS Foundation Basketball game
  • Fundraiser event to grow the Lil Mac’s Hustle & Heart Scholarship Award
WHY:

The goal of the Hustle & Heart 33 (H&H33) organization is to reach a point to sustain this scholarship well into the future.

WHO:

The Hustle & Heart 33 (H&H33) organization exists to share and expand the reach of what the life of Mackenzie Forrest embodied.  Two key attribute were constantly displayed, HUSTLE (passion) for what one is involved in and HEART (compassion) for everyone around you, it is the hope of the Foundation, the family, and friends involved with the mission to leave a legacy that can continue to reward students that demonstrate these attributes.  The  #33 represents the number proudly worn on the uniform.
HOW:

Before, during and right after the basketball games, we will be hosting a FUNDRAISING event.  We have received some sponsorship assistance for the event and would appreciate ideas in securing additional sponsor support.  We have secured many fantastic items for the auction, but could always use assistance I seeking additional ones.

The Hustle & Heart 33 Organization has partnered with Jeffco Schools Foundation and as such, donations will tax deductible.  If you do not have the time to donate an item, please consider a gift of cash to the Foundation.  You can donate by clicking on the link below but we would also love to see you at the event.

We know you have many choices of where your donations go and we are thankful in advance that you would consider the crisis facing our youth today.  The societal pressures, the isolation faced during remote learning, and the continual stress on today’s youth is undeniable.  It is the goal of this Foundation is that KINDNESS MATTERS and we will assist and lift up the youth that are making a difference. ABOUT MACKENZIE FORREST

  • Grew up on Green Mountain, Devinny Elementary, Dunstan Middle School, then Lakewood HS IB Program
  • Played soccer for Colorado Rush and Gold Crown Basketball teams
  • Loved to ski, the outdoors, camping, ATV’ing in Moab with friends and family, going to church (actually was an alter server at Christ on the Mountain – she volunteered at Mt St Vincent orphanage and at GC with special needs kids)_
  • Loved her brother who is two years younger – Gavin – now a Junior at CU Boulder

Mackenzie chose basketball over soccer as she wanted to play in college and thought basketball was more fun. She was a 4- yr starter at Lakewood HS and helped take the team to Great 8 twice. She was recruited by a lot of schools, including several D1 programs, and she choose to sign with Regis Univ (her Catholic faith was strong, and she did not want to be far from her brother).

Her passion for being the best she could be on the court and off the court of “life” was evident early on. She loved to practice her “art” whether heading and juggling her soccer ball to shooting hoops in the driveway. As she got older she admired Steph Curry – he was a smaller guard with brilliant ball handling skills – she watch his YouTube – and used her dribbling skills and knowledge of the game to improve others, the team and it overshadowed her 5’6” size.

She lived by these words:

“On the court – play hard, play smart and play with heart

Off the court – reach deep, reach out and show kindness”
