The Colorado Rockies will be without four players and two coaches, including manager Bud Black, upon return from the All-Star break due to MLB COVID-19 protocols.
On Friday the team announced they had placed right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte, right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacín, outfielder Yonathan Daza and right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela on the COVID-19 injured list.
Colorado will be without Black, along with first base coach Ron Gideon, for Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers per COVID-19 and contact tracing protocols.
Bench coach Mike Redmond will serve as manager on Friday night and fellow assistant Doug Bernier will take on the first base coaching duties.
Right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez will start in place of Senzatela on Friday.
With the slew of Rockies hitting the IL, the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Ben Bowden, outfielder Sam Hilliard and right-hander Antonio Santos from Triple-A Albuquerque and has selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup as a replacement player.
