Inside Super Bowl 51 with Football Insider Cecil Lammey — Day 3

Author’s note: This is the first Super Bowl I will be covering from start to finish, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s in store during the week. In this daily journal, I will revisit some of the highlights of the day and take you behind the scenes of Super Bowl 51.

It was another early morning in Houston, and I headed over to radio row to do my morning appearance on “Schlereth and Evans.” When I got to the table, Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian was there talking to the fellas.

With the New England Patriots media availability later in the afternoon, I had a few hours before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell held his press conference. Check out Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan’s Facebook page to see the video I posted with comments about both the Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. Plus, I answered questions about the Broncos and the 2017 NFL draft.

After that Facebook Live video, I went back to radio row for my appearance with Sandy Clough. As we were about to go on the air, Sandy and I had a chance to interview Hall of Fame offensive tackle Jackie Slater.

Shortly after that, I headed to the press conference room to get an early spot waiting for Goodell. I raised my hand for about an hour but was never called upon to ask a question to the commissioner. Instead of getting to my question, we had to hear several bad questions from Boston reporters about Goodell’s relationship with the Patriots. I’ll direct you back to our Facebook page to watch a video where Sandy, DMac and I broke down Goodell’s comments.

After recording that video, it was back to radio row, where I ran into Broncos linebacker Shane Ray. He’s one of my favorite players on the team, and we always have great conversations about topics ranging from shoes to cars to the universe to music to, of course, football.

I was able to get a few minutes with Brandon Stokley before hopping on the bus to the Patriots team hotel for their Wednesday media availability.

The star of the day was easily tight end Martellus Bennett.

Getting back to our hotel in the evening, it was then off to dinner. If you need a good laugh, check out our “clown car” video on Facebook to see how many Fan personalities can fit into one car.

Coming into Super Bowl week in Houston, former Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis had eight times been a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Three times he’s been a finalist.
